The finishes

The finish is the only part of a door you touch every day. It decides the look, the resistance to knocks, and what the door will look like in ten years.

Melamine — housing

A decor paper impregnated with resin and pressed onto the panel. It is the most widespread finish, and for good reasons: it is consistent from door to door, easy to clean, and priced so you can fit out a whole home without painful trade-offs.

Six decors held in regular production, referenced M-101 to M-106. Its limits: it marks on a corner impact and cannot be repaired. On a bedroom door that almost never happens; in a hotel corridor where trolleys pass, it is another story.

CPL — hotels and heavy traffic

CPL is a continuous laminate, thicker and markedly more resistant to impact and abrasion than melamine. It is the finish for places where doors take knocks every day: hotel corridors, offices, serviced residences, public buildings.

Six decors, referenced C-201 to C-206. The premium over melamine pays for itself on the first leaf you don't have to replace.

Real wood veneer — high-end

A sheet of genuine timber, glued and lacquered. It is the only facing with a true depth of grain, which changes colour as it ages, and which can be rescued by sanding if it is damaged.

Six species, referenced P-301 to P-306. Timber is a living material: two doors veneered in the same species are never identical, and an order placed six months after the first will not find exactly the same tone. That is the charm of wood and its constraint — hence our rule: on veneer, order the whole lot at once.

The tones shown here are not binding

The swatches below give an idea, nothing more. A screen is not calibrated, and two screens do not show the same thing. A tone chosen from a photograph and approved without a sample is the leading cause of dispute in this trade.

Only the physical sample board is binding. It can be seen in Marrakech or sent before you order, and it is free.

See before you order

A screen conveys neither the grain, nor the depth of a lacquer, nor the difference between a melamine and a CPL which, in a photograph, look exactly alike.

The physical board can be seen in Marrakech by appointment, or sent on request before any order. We don't take a lot order without the client having seen the finish for real — that protects us as much as you.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between melamine and CPL?
In a photograph, none. In use, CPL is a thicker laminate that takes knocks and abrasion where melamine marks. For a home, melamine is enough; for a hotel corridor, CPL saves you replacing leaves after two years.
Can a door be repainted later?
A wood veneer can be sanded and re-lacquered. A melamine or CPL cannot: the decor is a film, not a coat of paint. If you might change colour one day, that is decided at purchase.
Are the tones identical from one order to the next?
For melamine and CPL, yes — they are industrial decors. For wood veneer, no: timber is alive and varies between batches. That is why we recommend ordering all the veneer in one go.
Can I have samples?
Yes, on request, before any order. It is free and it is the only honest way to choose.
Is the finish the same on the frame?
Yes, frame and architrave are matched to the leaf and made in the same batch — the only way to guarantee the tones correspond.
